2000Trees

I’ve just sent off the films I shot over the course of the 2000trees festival in Cheltenham. I went to my favourite shop in the world (Mr Cad in Croydon) and bought a cheap 135mm f/2.8 and two twenty roll boxes of Fuji Superia 400, two five roll boxes of Portra 160NC (not a natural festival film, but I can’t bear to be without it for too long) and some Tri-X. I shot all but 4 rolls of the Superia and have sent them off for processing by Peak Imaging.

I found some amazing artists at the festival, and even got to chat with them after their sets 99% of the time. 2000trees is lovely like that; you get to see the people you’ve just watched up on stage around the camp site and at the bar. Plus it’s only £50 and for that you get a festival you can truly relax at and enjoy, rather than the stressy, messy, over-priced time you get for your £170 for somewhere like Glasto or Reading. The music is better too, not as polished, but far more real, intimate and engrossing. There’s something really enchanting about being able to sit 3 feet away from the performer and hear their guitar strings without any sort of amplification.

I’m going to hold off on a full scale blow-by-blow review until I have the films back in my hands and scanned/printed as suitable. Look out for a lengthy post with loads of link, photos and some weird stories by the end of the week.

p.s. It’s nice to have time to post again - sorry I’ve been away for so long.
